Argentina: Peach offer increases by almost 7% this season

The peach volume admitted to the Central Market of Buenos Aires in the 2017/2018 season is 6.7% higher than in the previous season. This season, 19,418.1 tons have entered the MCBA; last season that number amounted to 18,192.7 tons.

Historically, the offer of peaches in the MCBA in the last 20 seasons has shown a marked decline. The rebound of the current season could point to an improvement in the Argentine peach market.

Most of the peaches came from the province of Mendoza (55.2%), Rio Negro (20.7%), and Buenos Aires (18.2%). The peach coming from the province of Jujuy is the first peach to reach the market and thus achieves an important share (4.2%).

In chronological order, the province of Jujuy is the first to enter peach to the Central Market. In fact, in September 4700 kilograms obtained scoop values. In October the fruit from the province of Buenos Aires entered the MCBA. This offer had some ripeness issues, which were caused by the producers desire to achieve better prices. The offer peaked during January, as 5,093.8 tons entered the market, i.e. a 26.2% relative share.
