Exhibition space reservations available for the second edition of Mac Fruit Attraction China

Shanghai 21-23 November as part of Horti China

Piraccini: ‘The Chinese market is of strategic importance for Italian companies’

Cesena (25 July 2018)The relationship between Macfrut and China is growing stronger. Trait d’union is the second edition of Mac Fruit Attraction China, to be held in Shanghai from 21 to 23 November 2018 as part of Horti China, with exhibition spaces now available for reservation.

China is one of the most important strategic markets for Italian companies operating in the fruit and vegetable industry. The trade fair event provides trade opportunities for companies wishing to establish new relationships within the Chinese market. This process is enhanced by the experience and specific nature of Macfrut, the only international fruit and vegetable supply chain trade fair, which thus becomes a hub for Italian traders in China.

‘Last year’s excellent results prompted us to start working on a second, more specialised edition of the event,’ Renzo Piraccini, President of Macfrut, explained. ‘China must become a priority for Italian companies in the industry: first of all, because it needs technology and packaging, and Italy is a world leader in these fields. At present, due to phytosanitary barriers, kiwis and citrus fruits are the only Italian fruit and vegetable produce that can be exported to China, however the size of the Chinese market makes it one of the most promising target markets. An estimated middle-high class population of more than 300 million is increasingly interested in top quality products, especially in the agri-food sector, and is fascinated by “Made in Italy” brands.

The first edition of Mac Fruit Attraction China was attended by about 41,000 people and, according to a survey conducted by the organisers, 88% of visitors said they were satisfied with the event. The three-day trade fair was organised by Cesena Fiera and Fiera Madrid in cooperation with Vnu Exhibition Asia, attracting visitors from all over the world: The Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Japan, France, Egypt, Australia, the USA, China, Israel, Iran, New Zealand, Poland, Brazil, Sudan, Malaysia, Kenya, South Korea, Chile, Germany and Denmark.

A total of 31 exhibitors from Italy took part in the event. The main fields of interest were the export of fruit and vegetables, pre-and post- harvest technologies, packaging, transport/logistics, water management (irrigation, water treatment), and the seed and technical equipment sectors.
